What is Ngao Bingo Night? Before that let us talk about Bingo as a game.
Bingo is a game of chance. There is a host who is the Bingo master, and the audience are the participants. The participants play using papers or cards marked with random numbers and the bingo master uses a bingo board. The bingo numbers are contained in a box and are marked from 1 to 90.
Before the game, the bingo master will give the conditions for winning. If the condition is met, the participant must shout “BINGO.” To play, the bingo master will draw random numbers from the box until we have a winner. Every time the number is drawn and matches the number on the participants’ card, they mark it. This will continue until a winner is found.
For instance, if the condition to win is to mark out a straight line (horizontal or diagonal), the first participant to achieve this shouts ‘BINGO’ to alert other participants and the bingo master that they have won. The master will countercheck the numbers before declaring the winner.
Since its invention in 1929, the game has evolved over the years, making it more fun and incorporating numerous patterns to increase the chances of winning. For us, we have included the letter “N” for Ngao as one of the ways of winning.
